Tattoos at a Festival Despite Sun and Dirt?
We know that maintaining hygiene at festivals can be a major challenge, which is why we'll address the most common concerns right away and show you why you're in safe hands with us here at Glass Box Tattoo and Walhalla Ink.
Modern Studio
Our modern studio is fully glassed, completely air-conditioned, and equipped with an autonomous hygiene station certified by the health department, offering optimal protection against dust, heat, and rain.
Safe Protection for Fresh Tattoos
TattooMed's moist wound dressings effectively protect tattoos from sun, dirt, and sweat, even in extreme conditions.
Professional Artists
Walhalla Ink is the gold standard in quality, with only the best artists meeting our exacting standards.
Proven Quality
Our hygiene concept has already been successfully implemented at the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2024, proving its resilience under the toughest conditions.
Modern Studio: Highest level of protection and hygiene
Our 15-meter-long, 3-meter-high, and 15-ton studio is the perfect choice for any festival grounds. It rests on stable, heavy-duty plates to prevent sinking. It can be raised by up to 1.20 meters on any corner with hydraulic self-leveling, compensating for uneven terrain and protecting it from water.
Our fully glass-enclosed vehicle offers optimal protection for artists and guests against dust, heat, and storms, with eight workstations spread across nearly 60 square meters. Four powerful air conditioning units ensure ideal conditions inside, no matter the weather.
We use only disposable materials and strictly adhere to the highest hygiene standards—from the REACH color regulations to the Infection Protection Act (§5 IfSG). Our autonomous hygiene station, made of stainless steel and certified by the health department, requires no water connection and guarantees maximum cleanliness.
Festival-goers can observe the tattooing process at any time thanks to the glass walls, creating transparency and building trust.
Secure protection for fresh tattoos is a must.
Protecting freshly inked tattoos from environmental challenges at a festival is a real test—and we've got you covered. We rely on the patented, moist wound dressings from Tattoomed to ensure the best protection. These dressings provide the best protection against UV radiation (SPF 50) and dirt, which are significant risks at festivals.
Tattoomed makes sure tattoos heal perfectly, keeping colors vibrant and lines sharp. The dressing can stay on the skin for up to 5 days, offering unparalleled protection throughout the entire festival. You can even wear it while showering without any issues. These dressings are extremely effective, even under extreme conditions like the four consecutive days of heat warnings at the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2024.
To further enhance durability during intense sweating and the demanding festival routine, we additionally secure the edges with kinesiology tape. If the dressing does come off, visitors can receive a free replacement. This way, festival-goers can rest assured that their new tattoos will remain in perfect condition throughout the entire event.
You deserve the best.
Glass Box Tattoo works closely with Walhalla Ink. We stand for outstanding tattoo artistry and the highest quality, and we deliver on both. While Glass Box Tattoo specializes in providing mobile tattoo services at major festivals, Walhalla Ink continues to lead the way in Nordic tattooing within Germany, recognized internationally with a discerning clientele.
Walhalla Ink has earned a first class reputation through an undeniable dedication to perfection, and a team of around 20 experienced tattoo artists ensure that high standards are consistently met. Excellent Google reviews, publications in professional magazines, and an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung underline their success.
At festivals, Glass Box Tattoo offers a wide range of styles, including Nordic designs, with around 1,000 specially designed flash templates and the option for custom designs.
However, to maintain our quality, we only offer palm-sized tattoos at most and avoid critical areas such as fingers to ensure secure coverage with the protective bandage.
Through careful artist selection and a commitment to excellence, every customer leaves with a tattoo they can be proud of.
Proven Under the Harshest Conditions
Our work and hygiene concept have proven their effectiveness, as demonstrated by the SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2024. With 45,000 attendees, we successfully implemented our concept in a smaller vehicle with 27 square meters of space, three workstations, and a crew of 15 members.
Despite four consecutive days of heat warnings, demand was immense, and we were nearly fully booked throughout the event. Even under these extreme weather conditions, we were able to maintain the highest hygiene standards and provide festival-goers with a safe, high-quality tattoo experience.
This experience has reinforced our confidence that our concept works reliably even at large festivals, enabling us to continue meeting the highest standards in the future.

FAQ
We answer the most frequently asked questions about Glass Box Tattoo here. If you want to know how our studio operates, what technical requirements are needed, or how you can collaborate with us, you've come to the right place. We've got all the essential information you need right here.
If you have any further questions, contact us!
How Much Space Does the Studio Require, and What Are the Technical Requirements?
In transport mode, the studio measures 13.6 meters in length, 2.55 meters in width, and 4 meters in height, plus the tractor unit. When set up and fully extended, the studio measures 14.7 meters in length, 4.83 meters in width, and 3 meters in height (plus an additional 4m flag pole at each corner), requiring a total area of 60 square meters. The step height is 34 cm, and the studio weighs 15 tons.
For festivals with over 80,000 attendees, additional space for external sales and consultation areas must be allocated to effectively manage the high volume of visitors.
A 400V-16 or 32 A-three-phase power connection with 10 kW is required. If this is not available, we will use a generator that we bring with us, positioned at a safe distance, to ensure uninterrupted operation.
Can I Work as an Artist in the Studio?
Absolutely! Simply send us a message on Instagram or an email to info@glassboxtattoo.com with your portfolio and a brief introduction. We will get back to you to coordinate the next steps. Please note that we hire our artists on a short-term employment basis for a maximum of 70 working days per year. This is *not* a mini-job, which means you won't have to pay social security contributions! However, it is important that you have a primary source of income, such as a full-time job or self-employment, for the rest of the year. Additionally, foreign artists will need an A1 certificate, which can be easily obtained from local authorities.
How Long Does It Take to Set Up and Operate the Studio?
The vehicle can be positioned within 15 minutes and fully operational within one hour. However, depending on the space available, an early arrival may be necessary to ensure the vehicle is optimally positioned before other stands are set up.
How Many Visitors Can Be Served Per Day?
Our capacity depends on the number of visitors and available workstations. We plan for one tattoo workstation per 15,000 visitors in a two-shift operation. Our studio can accommodate up to eight workstations, but for large events, we can expand to two interconnected studio units with a total of 16 workstations and approximately 110 m² of space. It's also possible to set up multiple such units at different locations. This flexibility allows us to manage high demand even at very large festivals, ensuring that many visitors can enjoy a unique tattoo experience.
What Is Your Ticket Requirement for Staff?
We require four tickets per workstation for our staff to ensure smooth operation throughout the entire festival. This is based on our plan for one tattoo workstation per 15,000 visitors in a two-shift operation, with each workstation managed by two tattoo artists and two assistants. Additionally, we need tickets for drivers and two team leaders.
